AR: Where did you grow up, and what do you do now?
George Lewis Jr.: I grew up on the mean streets of Florida. I am a musician in a band called Twin Shadow.
How did you get started in what you do?
I’ve been playing music for a long time. I guess I got started singing in church.
What’s a typical day like for you?
Wake up. Cook a serious breakfast. Make music. Make music. Make music. Try to answer emails. Make music. Talk to my manager on the phone. Ride my motorcycle. Make music. Make a serious dinner. Make music. Go on a date. Make music. Have a glass of whiskey. Go to sleep.
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
Playing to our fans.
What’s some music you find yourself working to recently?
What are your favorite places in and around your neighborhood?
The mountains. The desert. The ocean…all on my motorcycle.
Do you remember your first pair of jeans?
Hmmmmm, yes... Bugle Boys of course. When I was in the 4th grade I thought I was the coolest kid in town. Everyone else was still wearing khakis.
What item(s) do you think will always go well with denim?
A white t-shirt.
What are the special things you look for in the denim you like?
Heavy, tough, slim.
What’s always in your pockets?
My wallet, my cell phone, guitar picks, and hairpins.
